This priority includes data and intelligence relating to other data, such as contextual data that is useful in understanding the London landscape in which our children live and learn, and where children’s services are provided.

Cross-border pupils

There is a statutory responsibility on Local authorities, contained within Working together to improve school attendance, “In cases where a pupil lives in one local authority area and attends school in another, ……. that both the local authority in whose area the pupil attends school (the ‘School LA’) and the local authority in whose area the pupil lives (the ‘Home LA’) work together to support the pupil and family.” This dashboard explores data from the school census, showing the number of pupils living in one London Borough but educated in another. It also includes pupils living outside London who are schooled in London schools. This does not include pupils in Independent schools or schools that do not complete the School Census for the Department for Education.

Ofsted Inspection outcomes

This dashboard shows the Ofsted Inspection outcomes for Local Authorities in both the Inspecting local authority children’s services (ILACS) framework and the Special educational needs and disability (SEND) framework. We also show who is likely to be inspected ‘next’ – by which we mean the time since the last inspection is the longest.

Outcomes for Children in Need

The Department for Education (DfE) collects lots of data from Local Authorities on the services that they are providing to residents including children, young people and their families. By collecting the Unique Pupil Number (UPN), where a child has one, in the child in need census and the SSDA903 Children looked after collections, this enables DfE to match with their national pupil database (NPD) which stores the outcomes for children in state-maintained education. This enables them to produce information on how children in need, children who are the subject of a child protection plan or who are children looked after by a local authority do in their education. This dashboard explores that data from a number of different viewpoints including special educational needs and free school needs.
