Outcomes for Children in Need Data Insights

This priority includes data and intelligence relating to children in need outcomes data. This includes data from the Department for Education that is useful in understanding how the services provided to and for London children and their families are making a difference, and sometimes where they need to make more of a difference.
Outcomes for Children in Need
The Department for Education (DfE) collects lots of data from Local Authorities on the services that they are providing to residents including children, young people and their families. By collecting the Unique Pupil Number (UPN), where a child has one, in the child in need census and the SSDA903 Children looked after collections, this enables DfE to match with their national pupil database (NPD) which stores the outcomes for children in state-maintained education. This enables them to produce information on how children in need, children who are the subject of a child protection plan or who are children looked after by a local authority do in their education. This dashboard explores that data from a number of different viewpoints including special educational needs and free school meals.
