Education Data Insights

This priority includes data and intelligence relating to Education data, often based on school census data, this is useful in understanding the London landscape in which our children learn, vulnerable groups within that wider pupil cohort and where in London they learn.
Cross-border pupils
There is a statutory responsibility on Local authorities, contained within Working together to improve school attendance, “In cases where a pupil lives in one local authority area and attends school in another, ……. that both the local authority in whose area the pupil attends school (the ‘School LA’) and the local authority in whose area the pupil lives (the ‘Home LA’) work together to support the pupil and family.” This dashboard explores data from the school census, showing the number of pupils living in one London Borough but educated in another. It also includes pupils living outside London who are schooled in London schools. This does not include pupils in Independent schools or schools that do not complete the School Census for the Department for Education.
Disproportionality – Education
This dashboard looks at disproportionality in the educational outcomes of children and young people in London, including suspensions, permanent exclusions, SEND and attainment at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4. It highlights where outcomes differ across children of different ethnicities, particularly through the use of the ‘relative rate index’ (RRI) which represents the proportion of one ethnic group relative achieving a certain outcome to the proportion of another ethnicity group.
