LIIA’s SEND Commissioning programme of work supports London local authorities and partners to develop sustainable, high-quality and value-for-money provision for children and young people with SEND. We focus on sufficiency, consistency and collaboration, helping the system respond to increasing demand, complexity and financial pressure while improving outcomes for families.
Our work supports place-based and pan-London approaches to commissioning that reduce reliance on high-cost, low-incidence provision and strengthen local offers.
LIIA also hosts the London SEND Commissioning Hub, an online space for commissioners to share and access documents together. You can find this in the Members Area, linked below.
Project Goals & Key Activity
This project aims to strengthen pan‑London approaches to SEND commissioning so that provision is sustainable, consistent and focused on improving outcomes for children and young people. It supports local areas to use data and insight more effectively, shape markets collaboratively and align SEND and children’s social care commissioning where needs overlap.
The programme also promotes shared tools, learning and transparency to help local authorities secure better value for money, strengthen sufficiency and prepare the system for national SEND reform across London.
Governance
This programme reports into the ALDCS SEND Steering Group and is supported by the Pan-London SEND Commissioner Forum and related commissioning networks.
