Improving SEND travel through efficiency, consistency and collaboration

Home to school transport is a critical part of the SEND system, enabling children and young people to access education safely and consistently. LIIA works with London partners to improve transport models, manage cost pressures and enhance the experience for children and families.

This work is delivered through the London SEND Transport Network and includes best practice development on route optimisation, LATCO models, joint funding approaches and integration with the wider SEND Commissioning Plan.

Project Goals

This project aims to support London local authorities to improve the efficiency, quality and consistency of SEND transport. It focuses on sharing learning through the SEND Transport Network, strengthening collaboration between transport, SEND and finance functions, and linking transport planning to sufficiency and commissioning strategies to ensure sustainable, child-focused travel solutions.

Governance

This programme reports into the ALDCS SEND Steering Group and is supported by the London SEND Transport Network.
