Partnership Events and Engagement

Connecting leaders and partners to drive SEND improvement

LIIA delivers a programme of partnership events and engagement activity that brings together colleagues from across education, health, care and the wider SEND sector. These activities provide opportunities to share learning, build relationships and support collaboration across London’s SEND system.

By creating space for discussion, reflection and the exchange of ideas, LIIA’s events help partners respond to emerging challenges, learn from effective practice and contribute to the development of a more inclusive system for children and young people with SEND.

A flagship element of this work is the annual London SEND Summit, a key event for the SEND Partnership across London. The Summit brings together leaders and practitioners from across sectors to discuss strategic priorities, respond collectively to national developments and strengthen cross-sector relationships.

Recent Summits have focused on some of the most significant developments in national SEND policy. In 2022, partners explored the Department for Education’s SEND and Alternative Provision Green Paper and considered a shared London response. In 2023, discussions focused on the SEND and AP Improvement Plan, examining the opportunities and challenges for London. More recently, the Summit has brought together representatives from local authorities, health services, national government, education settings and parent carer forums to explore SEND reform and the implications of the Change Programme Partnerships for London.

In 2026, the Summit focused on strengthening inclusive practice and improving outcomes through effective teaching and learning. The event brought together school leaders, SENCOs, Directors of Education and system leaders from across London to share learning and consider how inclusive approaches can be developed and sustained across settings.

London Inclusion and Learning Summit

In 2026, LIIA launched the first London Inclusion and Learning Summit, bringing together more than 200 leaders from education, local authorities, health services and parent carer organisations from across the capital. The Summit provided an opportunity to share learning and celebrate examples of inclusive practice from across London. Through keynote presentations, discussion and networking opportunities, attendees explored approaches to building inclusive cultures and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.

The event also featured an Investing in Inclusion Practice Marketplace, with more than 30 exhibitors showcasing projects and initiatives being delivered across London. The marketplace enabled delegates to learn from the experiences of others, explore practical approaches and make connections with colleagues working to promote inclusion within their local systems. By bringing together partners from across education, health and care, the Summit highlighted the breadth of work taking place across London to support inclusion and provided opportunities to share ideas, strengthen connections and learn from effective practice.

Alongside the Summit, LIIA delivers thematic workshops, peer learning sessions and Listening to London engagement activity, informed by diagnostics, workforce voice and lived experience to reflect real system priorities.
