The London Accommodation Pathfinder provides an alternative to Youth Detention Accommodation and supports children to shift from a pro-offending to a pro-social identity. The Pathfinder runs from a single property in London, offering 5 beds for children who are boys, aged 16 and 17. It is a registered Supported Accommodation provision.
The property is run by an accommodation provider that specialises in supporting children living in Supported Accomodation. Places for each child are funded by the local authority, as part of a sub-regional commissioning agreement in North Central London.
LIIA’s Role in supporting the LAP
LIIA had a key role in the development of the initial model and business case for the provision, which is currently run by St. Christopher’s Fellowship, under a contract managed by Camden Council; working across North Central London, but taking referrals from the whole capital. The contract is being recommissioned for a target date of April 2026, with more information to follow.
Resources
More detailed information about how the LAP operates can be found via the Youth Justice Board’s resource hub including LAP forms, leaflets and an animation for children and their networks to learn more about the LAP.
