LIIA shortlisted for prestigious London Government Chronicle (LGC) award

We are thrilled to announce that LIIA has been shortlisted at this year’s LGC awards in the ‘Innovation’ category following a thorough assessment of over 700 entries by the judging panel. The LGC awards offer local authorities and their partners across the UK the opportunity to showcase examples of innovation, excellence and performances that can inspire other councils to improve their own services.

The LGC awards recognise and celebrate the best in local government. The ‘Innovation’ category shines a spotlight on collaborative work that brings councils together to re-think services in order to achieve better outcomes for individuals and communities either at less cost, to improve outcomes and / or delivery. We were able to demonstrate our expertise in this area by showing clear examples of outstanding innovative practice within children’s services alongside our London-wide partners, much to the delight of the judges.

Martin Pratt, Deputy Chief Executive, Executive Director Supporting People, London Borough of Camden and Chair of the Association of London Directors of Children’s Services (ALDCS) said:

“The LIIA has been a gamechanger in enabling London Children’s Services to meet shared challenges, mobilise sector-led improvement, and collaborate to find innovative solutions. Although the LIIA team are small they have made a massive impact.”

LIIA was formed in 2019 as part of the Association of London Directors of Children’s Services (ALDCS) vision of promoting collaborative working to find solutions for some of London’s most enduring and complex issues across the sector. Hosted by London Councils, LIIA is London’s Regional Improvement and Innovation Alliance (RIIA), working with Department for Education, the Local Government Association (LGA), the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) and the eight other RIIA across the country to promote learning, facilitate collaboration, enable governance, leverage investment and share best practice.

The LGC Awards 2023 take place on 8 June, Grosvenor House Hotel, London, so until then, please watch this space…!
