Training Overview for Your Choice Trainers
: This is a two day, in-person training.
Through a blend of theory, skills development, and practical exercises, trainers will gain the knowledge and tools needed to deliver the Your Choice training effectively. The training will also build confidence in using and adapting training materials to engage learners and promote positive change through their responsive delivery of the programme.
By the end of the course, participants will:
- Have an understanding of the Your Choice training and programme.
- Be familiar with the Guiding Principles of the programme.
- Be clear about the learning objectives of the training programme and how to achieve these.
- Try out and practice some of the session activities that re-enforce learning and encourage an inclusive learning environment.
- Be prepared to deliver the “Your choice” training programme.
Training Format:
- 2 full day in-person training days
- Interactive workshops, group discussions, and practical application
- Delivered by experienced trainers with expertise in CBT and youth engagement
- Participants are expected to complete and pass a short quiz at the end of the training to demonstrate understanding of the training and programme.
- Trainers will be provided with ongoing support through the 6 weekly [KG1] Clinical Lead network sessions.[IG2] Trainers are expected to attend 2 Clinical Lead network sessions to qualify for Your Choice Trainer certification.
Who Should Attend:
This course is suitable for professionals who have;
- A good understanding of mental health difficulties prevalent amongst children likely to have experienced early trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s), and their varied presentation in this age group.
- Good working knowledge of CBT, the underpinning principles and techniques that address thoughts, feelings or behaviour that may be impacting on an individual’s goals.
- Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions in clinical settings.
- Registered with a professional body such as HCPC, BACP, UKCP & Social Work England.
What do I need to deliver YC in my service:
- A local safeguarding policy and a named Designated Safeguarding Lead[KG3]
- A named Clinical supervisor experienced in CBT, who has successfully completed the Your Choice Train the Trainer training
- Capacity and time to provide high-intensity support to young people.
Prior to attending
Trainers should ensure that;
A member of the delivering service has attended a consultation with the central Your Choice team, where the local Theory of Change will be agreed.
- They have access to a copy of the local Theory of Change model in preparation for attendance at Your Choice Train the Trainer training.
- They have registered with the Your Choice members area at www.liia.co.uk
- They have accessed the training materials including the Your Choice Resource Pack via the LIIA website.
- They have completed the Your Choice Inclusion and Diversity questionnaire.
- Completed the Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form, where agreeable.
