Sadiq Khan expresses commitment to LIIA’s Care Leavers Compact

Earlier this week, the Partnership for Young London, Children in Care Council and Virtual Heads held the first Shining Stars Awards which was a fantastic evening celebrating the achievements of London’s children in care and care leavers. The evening highlighted the impact of their stories, not just on the young people themselves but onalso those who support them.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London also paid tribute to London’s care leavers in a short video, reflecting on the fact that although talent is universal, the same cannot be said for equal access to opportunities. He referenced his commitment to removing barriers for London’s care leavers through the Care Leavers’ Compact, which is offering half price travel on London buses and trams and improved support across other key areas including Housing, Data, Health and Education. As the Mayor says in his video, ‘a little help can make a huge difference’.
